Concerning mechanisms of forgiveness, this study aimed to investigate the mediating effects of emotional intelligence on the relationship between object relations and forgiveness. Object relations, forgiveness and emotional intelligence, all related data was collected from among undergraduate students, and was analyzed using structural equation modeling(SEM) of mediation. The results indicated that object relations significantly and negatively related to emotional intelligence and forgiveness. Emotional intelligence significantly had a positive relation with forgiveness. Subsequently, this study examined a hypothesis model that object relations is a predictor variable, forgiveness is a outcome variable, and emotional intelligence is a mediator. The model for this study was entirely verified model fit by CMIN/DF, IFI, CFI and RMSEA. Further, emotional intelligence turned out to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between object relations and forgiveness. Finally, the implications, limitations and meanings for psychosocial rehabilitation were discussed.
